Just thought I'd post this here.

In January I made a complaint to the ASAI regarding Vodafone's use of the word unlimited in their Marketing campaigns.

The ASAI provided clarity on when providers can use the word unlimited with usage caps. A company can only use the word unlimited and have a Fair Usage Policy, if less than 1% of customers would be affected by said FUP.

As it turns out Vodafone were in breach of the rules as more than 1% were affected, and they have now removed charges. Just goes to show, the system can work sometimes.

You mean Vodafone unlimited is now 100% and no more charges for usage over 300GB?

Yep, Vodafone have confirmed that before in their talk to forum

Ok. Thinking of signing up for the fibre unlimited & home landline but scared i might experience the problems some vodafone customers are experiencing, not sure which to go for vodafone or eircom.

You will probably run into problems somewhere along the line with all of the time. You just have to be hopeful it's resolved quickly.

I have been with Vodafone about a year and have thankfully had zero problems.

it seems all mobile operators have dropped their "unlimited" capped marketing to. Good to see clarity and an end to the lies

Eircom advertise unlimited but in fairness they are unlimited. I downloaded over 600 gb in May and not a peep from them.

Damn, there goes my business plan to open a bar with "unlimited refils" *

It is absurd and unacceptable for the ASAI to be making these decisions and saying that any qualification of "unlimited" is acceptable. Unlimited means without limit plain and simple.

    I agree, but it's a start.

    :D:D:D

Just realised that Vodafone Unlimited still have fair usage policy:

Unlimited service carries a fair usage policy (FUP) and Vodafone reserve the right to charge for usage in excess of the advertised FUP or amend the service in terms of bandwidth speeds limitations or other measures such as restricting service types.

They've confirmed they're not charging for going over it though, which they were until recently.

Chat with their customer service and they said their FUP for Unlimited home broadband is now 1,000GB :D:D

Have you any idea of Eircom FUP GB?

I think Eircom, Sky & UPC don't have FUPs

Neither UPC or nor eircom(in NGB/NGA areas at least) enforce theirs if present. Have never put a sky connection to the test.
