School Vaccine?

Does anyone accompanied his/her child for the vaccine by HSE at junior infant class?

I am wondering what would be the whole procedure, and should I go to the class to be with my child on the date for the vaccine?

It should be two shots and the children are only 5 years old. But parents are not invited by school, so I am not sure will I look very special if I show up on that day?

    Many thanks,
    Hope

When i was in school, we just went into another room and one by one up to the nurse and jabbed. No big deal really. Does your child have an issue with injections in general?

Parents who come in seem to add to the anxiety and the child often gets very upset. Most parents don't the nurse collects the children , a few at a time and it seems to work well.

In our school all the parents come,I'm not sure if its by request of the school or not but I agree with poster above, they add to the anxiety from what I've seen.

In our school parents do accompany their children.

Hi....some parents do accompany their child- but it really makes it more of an ordeal for the child. Often it's easier if they go with their class and it's over - and forgotten about almost straight away. Good luck......ice-cream after
