Does anybody know if CIE pensions are transferrable to widows? A close relative has recently lost her husband, and were she to lose access to the CIE pension - would be in a substantially less comfortable financial situation. Any info / advice appreciated.

Whatever union her husband was in will be able to advise her, that's her best bet. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a widow's pension. If her husband had sufficient PRSI contributions she would also be entitled to a contributory widow's pension.
