Competency based interview anyone??

    I've an interview tomorrow and I've been informed that it's a competency based interview!
    Has anyone here been through one of them? What kind of questions are you asked?
    I've never had this type of interview and my nerves are shot over it!!!
    It would be a great opportunity so I don't want to make a fool of myself!!
    Appreciate any tips.

    It's all about how you've handled situations, I guess. I've had a few like that and they'd say things like "Give me an example of a time when you worked with a difficult team member" to see how I handled conflict. The STAR technique is what you want to answer these questions. I don't remember exactly what it is but it's kind of like:
    S - Situation "I was working in a group with 3 other people for <insert reason>"
    T - Task "I had to do <task> for the project"
    A - Action "My team member was causing <issue> so I did <action> to try to sort it out"
    R - Resolution "In the end, <resolution> happened"

    Advice in the previous post.

    And you need to choose examples which show what you achieved (or what you learned and did differently next time), and that let you explain why you're a good fit for this particular job. Sometimes, it can be better to choose a slightly weaker example which is more relevant to the current job, than a great example of the competency which isn't so relevant.

    For example, it's an office job, and you're asked for an example of how you handled a difficult team situation, it's better to talk about a difficult work-colleague in a previous office job rather than a difficult problem in your rugby team.
