99 Hilux oil leaking from hub

    Hi there,

I have a 99 Hilux which 2 months ago I noticed had oil leaking from one of the rear hubs. I brought it to the garage and got the wheel bearing replaced and new seals. I came out the other day to notice that oil was again leaking out of the same hub. I brought it back to the garage and the mechanic suggested that the axel casing might be damaged - I have never even heard of this.

Any suggestions as to what it may be or is it possible that the bearing seal has went again after only 2 months?

He is suggesting that where the seal presses into is damaged and leaking around the outside of the seal.

More likely the shaft might be scored/damaged or the seal was damaged when fitting it or poor quality seal fitted
