    Hi,

We are getting married next year and are beginning the search for our wedding band. Do people normally search for the bands online or what's the best way to find that perfect band? Any links to some threads or websites would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

We found ours on a fluke night out as such, but think it is really just how ye would prefer to search. You can look up a few online and then arrange to go into one of the gig nights.. I know some bands who might be playing at weddings close to you say to call in later in the night to have a quick listen to them...

Where abouts are you looking for

We are currently based in Dublin but don't mind travelling to see a few bands if needs be thanks.

The Best Men are amazing and do showcases around Dublin. There is a sticky at the top of the thread.

I recommend the following after going to see a few showcases:

    Quantum

    Wise Guys

The Rubix Band (We have booked these for our wedding next year)

    Pink Champagne

They are all in around 1800-2200 mark including DJ.

Try and see if there are any showcases on. They are usually listed on the weddingsonline.ie forum or on their events section, same with mrs2be.ie

The Great Escape are fab. Check out their website for when they are doing a showcase. Well worth a look

Worth noting too, some videos bands have up on you tube are shocking so do not know any of them from watching videos like that. You should try and see as many as you can...

Totally agree Milly. You really need to go and see them in person as those videos never do them any justice.

Put your request in the wedding band sticky. Include your date and county. narrow down selection to 3 bands based on speaking to them, recommendations online, website set list, budget. Go and view. pay deposit to book.

Try and get recommendations from family / friends / work colleagues if possible.
Someone may have been at a wedding recently where the band were ace.
I'm sure they wouldn't mind asking the bride and groom for you the name.

If you want alternative bands look up one fab day. They have really cool and different bands. We booked the trips, very excited about that.

Mrs2be have the more traditional ones. It's worth watching the videos and then making a shortlist. I know a friend recommended Gina jazz to me but that specific taste. There's also the dionnes who are a supremes cover band. Seen them at a wedding and they are amazing.

Have a look at House Party Band and The Black Knights. Both very good. Saw the first band recently, they were very good.

We booked Converse All Stars after seeing them at friends of ours wedding. They are really great, a friend of mine has already booked them for their wedding. They are Galway based but travel all over.

Hi all, hope someone out there can give me some advise. getting married July 9th 2016 in Tipperary and am trying unsuccessfully to fine a good wedding band. Have a budget of around 1800 and was hoping for a few recommendations. We have seen a few bands but they are all either booked up on that date or over budget.

hi, like other posters we are also trying to source a wedding band for wedding next July in Harvey's point donegal. Any recommendations will be most welcome. All music types suit us just want guests to dance and enjoy. Thanks in advance

We got married in April and had Till Death Do Us Party. They were awesome! We only had 46 guests at the wedding and were worrying that we shouldn't have got a band or that there would be nobody dancing etc... Well the dance floor was totally full all night. They are just brilliant and we've had so many compliments about them! They do everything from Motown to new stuff but all really upbeat, no slow sets etc and all out guests from 6-85 were enjoying it :)

Also we met them in advance and went through the details and had a chat with the dj about what music we liked etc. It was all very easy and organised.

I see they aren't a member. I hate the awards on weddings online when they give it to people like Harlequinn. Then lots of people book them thinking they are great and reliable but in reality they just paid the most for the award.

That's very disappointing for ye. I rang them when we were looking at bands and wasn't very impressed with yer man's whole "shtick" if you know what I mean by that. I was at work and just had a couple of quick questions. Couldn't get off the phone from him. Sell, sell, sell. I wasn't interested in awards they had one but I got a rundown of them anyway.
In fairness though a girl I know had them and the floor was packed all night. People raved about the band after but I knew from talking to him on the phone that it just wouldn't work. (Plus 3400€ is mental money. My band cost me €1200 and I was delighted. Very established band too but they just don't charge the earth!)

Thanks Iozzy1984 for that, I had contacted them also awards won etc they were free on our date but friends and family adised us they were too expensive. Im so sorry for you that that happened to you, alot of money paid out and you would hope it would be worth every penny. I hope it didnt ruin your day!

Deja groove are a sligo based band with a very good rep. My friend had them at her wedding and was very happy. Not too far from you if you wanted to check them out.
We had a galway band converse allstars. Rocked the place!

Can highly recommend Til Death do us Party.
We booked them for our wedding in September 2014, I've never seen a dance floor so jammed for the entire night!!

They had the option of a Sax player to do our drinks reception music and then DJ add-on for after the band aswell ... It was so simple just dealing with the one band for everything, and they were pretty reasonable if I remember correctly.

They were recommended to me by a girl in work, pretty sure they do gigs in and around Dublin city centre to check them out beforehand :)

    Gossip band are excellent too.
Just avoid the bands who will have their 'A'band on one gig and send their 'b' band to your night (unknown to you of course...you'll still be paying the 'A' band price'). There are not many at it, but those that are are making things harder for everyone else.

Another reminder. I've just had to delete posts in breach of this rule. Next time it'll be red cards.
