Advice on moving to Canada

Hi everyone, I'm 24 and I am planning on moving to Canada, My main problem is that my only real work experience in life has been cash in hand labouring on building sites so it's nothing I can really put onto a C.V, I have some education like my leaving certificate and other certificates, licences etc that could come in handy like an E.C.D.L, Forklift licence, Carpentry course certificates etc but dont even know if they would be recognised in Canada, because of this my main worry would be finding work and how hard would it be to come across, I intend on travelling alone so this also adds to my nerves about going as I will know no one on arrival, is it easy to meet others in the city? I've worked out that I should have about $7k Canadian dollars when going but how long would this even last me? Thank for all you advice in advance :D
