Agreed. Very hard to watch, but engrossing. The extent of the retribution in the former Czechoslovakia in particular shocked me. I would have expected Poland etc. but had never been aware of such awful events in the Czech Republic.

Savage Continent by Keith Lowe is a great book on the subject. Amazing to note that most monoethnic monoglot states in eastern and central Europe were created by ethnic cleansing in the 40's

Good programme. Horrible, but important story.

I see social media aftermath is comprised of a lot of "They deserved it" stuff.

The likes of Karl Frank had it coming - he wiped out Lidice in the aftermath of Heydrich's assassination. The savage beatings of the 6 year old kids was a whole other world of evil - not even keyboard commandos could justify that.
A truly disturbing documentary. The best kind, one that needs watching.

Oh yeah that goes without saying. The rage was understandable, but all too often the target... this thing of collective responsibility due to nationality - oh yeah that's how the nazis thought. It's a really ****ing stupid way to think tbh, and a lot of people subscribe to it.
