Some questions to help with the right answer
    1. what age is the house
    2. what type of "felt" is under the slates/roof tiles
    3. is the soffit ventilated
    4. is the dormer converted
    5. why was spray rejected
    6. is ceiling insulated
    7. if so how and does insulation go all the way out to the felt

My apologies its a new build .its breathable felt under slates. Yes soffit has vents in it . . I'll be using insulate d slabs on ceiling and knee wall . spray foam was advised that it won't let the roof breed and for what you get it's a lot more expensive . so plan would be cosy board cut n between rafters from ridge down to wall plate leaving gap for ventilation . . is over membrane put on the ceiling bringing it down the knee wall as well . taped etc then insulated slab on ceiling and knee wall. Think that would be a OK
