Neither. Cycle, swim and do resistance exercises. Join a gym.

Of the two I'd definitely go for the heaviest bag you can install /afford , at least 70 ilbs, and then watch tonnes of YouTube videos which demonstrate all the drills you can do etc

Vital to get your technique perfect and the right hand protection first! Or you will get hurt! . This is great routine by Vitali, intervals between slow medium fast intensity . Rinse and repeat. Hours of fun to be had

speed balls are useless so get a punch bag and to be honest you should try get a few lessons before you go near it, People gain terrible technique which is hard to correct by doing their own thing

I would highly recommend a punching bag to lose your weight.

Are you sure you will have the energy to keep punching enough times to lose weight?

Losing weight can be achieved with no exercise. The bag is just another form or cardio/strength work out. No guarantee that you lose weight by doing it. Your food and liquid intake are number 1 in your effort to drop weight.
