    So the usual suspects

Astana could be still in pink

    Movistar could win

Some will move up and some will fall down

    Can't wait

Here are timings and details etc

POrte not going well ...down on intermediate

Porte nearly 2 minutes down after 25 minutes of cycling . . .Things have obviously gone against him but his race has been reminiscent in its way of Sky's last big hope here with Wiggins's Giro d'Isaster a couple of years ago.

Will be interesting to see how Kreuziger goes today and if he will be allowed ride to his full potential or keep something back to help Contador over the week ahead.

An other marginal loss, put them all together and he may end up outside the top 50. Funny that he's almost robotic in his one week stage race victories but can't even be consistent for a week in a grand tour. I also think all Sky/Brailsfort's rhetoric is fairly shallow. At the end of the day they only win grand tours when they have one of the worlds best riders in form and things go their way. Hardly a revolution in team organisation.

Feel sorry for the poor fella tobh. Maybe tis his knee but in general he seems to lack the kind of steel & bullish self-assurance his talent in shorter stage races anyway would seem to warrant.

I never remember L L Sanchez being a top level time trialist - his move to Astana has clearly made him a much stronger cyclist.

Contador has clearly regained his time trailing legs, like when he was beating Cancellera in grand tour TT's in 2008 - 2010. Won't be beatable in the Tour if he can time trial like that.

There is no decisive time trials in the Tour this year.

Give him a break! He's allowed feel pain & he's just put in a great performance that must have produced plenty of it.
The only thing that matters is what happens on the road. I don't see much point paying any attention to what riders say off it. I'm sure Contador'd be happier not to have to go through the tedium of these media duties. I'd guess he doesn't give much of a monkey's what comes out of any of his rivals' mouths.

Contador will be beatable in the tour, for many reasons. It really depends how this last week goes and how well he recovers.

Let's not forget his biggest predicted rivals here were Aru, Uran and Porte. At Le Tour it'll be Nibali, Froome and Quintana. Entirely different kettle of fish. Throw in Valverde and Purrito and it's as good a tour field as we've ever seen.

He's apparently won 4 Spanish National TTs & is described on Wiki at least as a TT specialist.

I can comment on anything I want without your permission ..its a froum of opinion
Rich you saying what matters is the road when you spend all your time having a go at SKY and their RV or swiping at OGE and their Australian ways...

What happened with Sky & OGE happened on the road! And even the bloody motorhome is on the road.

I'd imagine they must, but it's probably time to just keep looking for stage wins.

Even though I'm sure they went in with the goal of winning the Giro, I think overall they'd be happy with a couple of stage wins from Viviani, the TT win from Kiri and maybe another one to come. It's just Porte's result that's been a major disappointment.

If he is on form the only rivals he'll have are Froome and Quintana. I don't see Nibali as being at their level and I wouldn't expect Valverde or Rodriquez to compete for first place - top five for sure but not first or second.

But I do agree it should be a much more competitive race and some of these are riders are very aggressive. Without a significant time trial too it should be closer with more to play for in the mountains.

Much like last years TdF and Giro, the paucity of competition is making the leader look very good.

Nibali looked unbeatable in the Tour last year, a phenomenon. But look who he actually beat. It's the same for a Contador in this Giro.

If contador wins the giro I'd have him favourite for the tour, because the pressure will be off him for the year as his won a grand tour. The pressure will pile on froome and I think that's when he's at his weakest. Plus Bertie's confidence will be high

contador will the double in my view. he can just wheel follow in this final week and actually recover well from this giro. has porte just given up? looks like he's not bothered by a podium unlike aru

Comeback Pelevin....I promise I will play nice :D

And anyway today is going to be a great stage

I hope Contador doesn't walk it and Astana can do something or evne Porte/Konig with a one / two (even three)

Or my man Betencur.....he looks like he is getting better and better

I think it should be a great week of racing but something like the Tour at this stage last year. Nibali & Contador by far the strong men & the gap should only go out bar accident. Now we're into the proper mountains though so should be great racing anyway. Astana have been going at it hard all along & will presumably empty themselves firing off whatever they're got.

Quite normal for a cyclist to be asked about or to comment on the state or otherwise of their legs! Even if not asked, I would say all riders interviewed in the Giro say 'My legs....' at some stage
