Run Through Surgical Training - BST

Hi all, so for those doing surgery training in Ireland or who have experiences with the system what is the new run through program like? What is the competition like for ST1?

NB! if you get a place at ST1 does that mean you're guaranteed to stay on the scheme till CCT (though possibly not in your preferred specialty?)

Also anyone know how is compares quality wise to the UK surgical training program? operative experience, audit, mentorship ect..

Going into final year med btw and examining career options. All help appreciated! Hope I get to be your SHO someday:D
