Even though i have been septic for the last few days with horses just outside the placings ill soldier on !

2.15 Soldier On, at 5/2, thought he was very impressive 1st time out, traveled well and was very proffesional. Ballydoyle horse was too and there's obviusly a few who could improve it being an early season 2 year old race, Bolger remarked afterwords he'd be going for the coverntry so im taking him to oblige

3.20 Ivawood e/w @5/1 for clear 2nd best in the race, if the fav has on off day he may be the one to take advantage

4.30 Ringside Humor was fierce unlucky the other day finsihing 4th (you''ll never guess who backed her that day....) Curvy who runs in the GR3 Sunday has beaten her twice, she'sup another 3lb but looks like she's still imroving so at 14/1 ill take a chance she is even with a bountiful amount of dangers

At Haydock i fancy Hot Streak to win the GR2 sprint, i think Meccas Angel is serious sprinter and for this lad to get so close on his first run augors well, he won this last year to and ground should be perfect for him

Quick one that I really like before the beer gets the better of me, reasoning later (i.e. in tomorrow):

    1:45 Goodwood - The Corsican (7/1 Bet365) 3pts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭sdoc13

One for me tomorrow 16 40 Goodwood, put it up when half steamed last week. Anyway Secret Witness is extremely well handicapped. Ran well last week considering he hadn't ran in a few months. I am going to follow this for a few runs if it doesn't win. 14/1 looks a few points too big 3 pts win.

Was going to say the same, Secret Witness is handicapped to win a race like this and probably needed the run lto. Probably worth following he will surely win soon if not tomorrow.

The opening fillies maiden at the curragh looks a cracker, some very well bred Coolmore and Godolphin fillie, including the infamous Coolmore who is sure to be a silly price. Obviously not a betting heat but fascinating for sure.

    Ballydoyle?

Rossom tipped up Maarek last Sunday, had him backed myself at Longchamp, unfortunately only yielded 4th, good run over a shorter than ideal trip. His back to 6f for today's race. Was going to suggest checking out the longchamp race but ATR don't have it up...

    Original tip
"My old favourite Maarek 8/1 runs in the 4.30 Longchamp tomorrow and looks way too big a price for me. Ran a good reappearance in a listed race and he'll have come on an awful lot for the run."

Maarek runs tomorrow 2:45 the curragh @ 12/1 bet 365
    I've had a nibble

Ground won't suit, not with this kind of field.

Thanks for the heads up FB, the write up in the RP reminded me of the rossom pick. May cash out and look else where... Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I definitely wouldn't be going near Sole Power - record over 6 just is not good enough to justify current favouritism. Maarek favours soft ground and Mustajeeb has shown bits and pieces, but would really need a decent bit of improvement to win tomorrow. All signs in this race point to Gordon Lord Byron if you ask me. They don't send this horse all over the world for no reason - for me it's the class act in the race and should prefer conditions, trip and track to anything else.

Most of those Greenland runners are on a sighter for Royal Ascot. The only one of the fancied runners who's assured of race fitness is Astaire. It's not a race to bet in but a nice run from Sole Power will tee him up nicely for the Kings Stand. Can't see him winning over 6f though.

Looks likely to be some cut in the ground today at Haydock and I think that will be a big help to the chances of Navigate (4:55). Martyn Meade's colt looked an improving performer lto at Chester and, judging by the manner in which he stayed on there, the step back up to 7 furlongs may be another reason to expect further improvement today. Stable form is also a big plus after they had one hose up in a competitive race yesterday. Well backed this morning but just taken the 10/3 with Betfair Sportsbook.
    2pts Win

Astaire is 7/2 with powers however 11/2 with boyles ill have a bita that.

Looked to be an improving horse at the back end of last season when winning a couple of decent handicaps over this distance - with one of them over today's C&D. Was previously pitched pitched into a Group 3 at the start of last season but that may have come too soon after just 2 career starts. Looks the type to continue to improve this season and I think he can take this en route to bigger things later in the season.

I haven't gone for Sole Power Yet, but i think the ground is good and if it is 4/1 might be a huge bargain. He isn't as good as he is over 5f but he has very good Group 1 form over 6 and on good ground today he may well just have 1 horse to beat GLB..

Miss Katie Mae looks a good alternative to the hotpot @ 8/1, will come on from first run. Fav's record in this race isn't hectic either.

Ballydoyle opned 2/1 and now odds on so good support as expected.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭Mostly Harmless

I also think Continuum (4.05 Goodwood) looks a bit over priced at the stand out 18/1 with William Hill and have had a small bet. I think he was a bit better than his finishing position suggests over this C&D on his final run last season as he met trouble in running and stayed on when it was all over finishing 6th (dropped 1lb on the back of that). Had previously won an arguably stronger race than this at York off only 1lb lower than today and had also run respectably in two definitively stronger races at Ascot prior to that. Ran well enough on reappearance last season and this is a course where the trainer does well so I think he should be a few points shorter at least.

Definitely the last one for me... This could be more heart than head but I can't help thinking that Regal Parade (4.20 Haydock) has a better chance than the price of 20/1 suggests. He is obviously nowhere near as good as he was but has shown enough in his last few starts on the AW to suggest he could still be up to winning off his current mark. Has only had 3 starts for his current yard who do well with limited ammunition, although he's now 11 he is very well handicapped on the best of his form even last year when trained by Milton Bradley. Possible that the switch back to turf could eek out a bit more improvement and has a sporting chance in a competitive race at a big price.
    1pt Win

    Three for me today

1-45 The Coriscan @ 5/1 as already mentioned is the young improver in the field and with the fav coming back after a long layoff and the 2nd fav carrying a plenty im willing to take them on with this C&D winner

2-45 Majestic Queen @ 14/1 won well last time out and with doubts around most of the market principles with ground, trip, fitness etc im gonna have a go with this mare who this most of her winning at this time of year

3-45 Great Minds @ 9/1 personal fav of mine this horse, stacks taking him over when the could have ran in the group 2 at home on a C&D he clearly likes and for more money....hmmmmm

2 came up in my tracker at big prices so ive had a few quid e/w on both
Mandamus - (Curragh, 17:05) beaten 6 lenghts by Zawraq, not that id take that literally, but if you go back to his last handicap run a couple of starts ago, over C&D he travelled well and was just touched of only 6lb higher for that so at 25/1 ill have a few quid on

Commodore - (Goodwood, 14:55) should have won last time out, he is out of the handicap and in a better grade, but i thought the jockey was easy enough on him after he got cut off, at 10/1 in an open race ill take a chance there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,911 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Belardo 14-1 ew 3.20
I like this to win if for whatever reason Glen fails to perform.
It has a won on various ground and has a kick of speed needed to
pull away from some most of these.

I thought he broke completely fine for him. He always has to come through horses. With a completely free passage he might have pushed the winner but think he would have finished 2nd either way.

That Weld horse is still a 20/1 shot with PP for the Diamond Jubilee. For a son of Nayef he's got plenty of pace. Looks a bit of E/W value at least.

Spencer was very keen on him this morning on C4. The bonus being Spencer isn't riding it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

    4:05 Haydock - Grumeti

Was having his first run on the flat for 4 years (was still a progressive horse back then).
Ran a decent race over 12f on G-F, should come on for the run and should appreciate the extra 2f and slightly slower ground.

Last chance saloon for him tomorrow. The Curragh Guineas meeting isn't the ideal stepping stone for The Derby. Too close to Epsom - there's more than a whiff of Ballydoyle running out of time with him.

    Maskoon 16-1 ew 5.05

I like these two. With 4 to place I'll have 1/2 pt each way on both.
