Massey 575, Terrible racket coming from fan ( as it was hitting something, but wasn't) belt was ok, took out belt and fan feels like there is a bit of play in it..
Any ideas? Could it be someting to do with water pump? Or a bearing in the fan? Or simply fan needs tightening?
Dont want to start taking things apart until i know whats the problem. Thanks

not familiar with the set on the 575, but sounds like a bearing , you most likely need a kit ,

Fan bearing is shot by the sounds of it, next thing that will happen is your fan will end up buried in the rad, then you'll need a new one of them!

You need a new water pump. Once the bearing goes as you describe, it won't be long till it start leaking water and then if you're not careful, you'll end up with head gasket issues due to overheating. It's not the biggest problem in the world so it's worth dealing with immediately.

    Thanks for replies..
so change bearings in the fan and get a new water pump and replace it..
Pain in the arse but could be worse.
Will get sorted before driving her again..

I changed the water pump and rad in a ford one time you'd want small hands for the job as everything is cramped the Massey should be a lot easier.

The Water pump has the fan attached at the front of it. Just replace the water pump.

See here - just check that it's the right one for your tractor.

Get the pump and fan changed before rad goes too.
