I need some advice please. My 15 month old oven front glass pane exploded spontaneously shooting glass all over tha kitchen last Monday week. After protracted discussions with the vendor they have finally agree to replace and install a new one, they are. Offering me the following options

    Cata single fan oven
    Cata conventional oven 50l
    Cata single multi function oven
Cooke and Lewis multi function 59ltr
    Hot point multifunction 59ltr

Advice appreciated as to which you would take from this list. I was just glad the kitchen was empty at the time an no one was injured, but glad they are finally willing to do something. Thanks.

Why not just get the glass replaced?

BTW it's well known phenomenon called Spontaneous Glass Breakage and can occur in toughened glass in any application, not just in oven doors.

Thank you for your input. Had someone been looking through the door when this happened they wouldn't have a face left, added to the fact that it could be an over heating issue and should not be expected to happen. Thanks anyway.

there is no guarantee that the same thing wont happen to any replacement, its got nothing to do with overheating, any oven has a max temp of c300 degrees centigrade and the glass should cope with that temp, its only since ovens are being manufactured on the cheap that this problem is occurring and it can be down to a number of factors but most notably less of a lead imput in the glass due to cost, unless you buy a decent upmarket german oven it could happen again, bar the german ones the most of the rest are coming out of the same factory
