    Hi folks,

I'm not sure if this is breaching any forum rules, I had a read through and couldn't find anything unless I missed it.. which is possible.

Myself and a number of ex-colleagues / friends have launched a forum that is completely free to join that offers technical support and advice to anyone and everyone. It is run by folk who actively work in support and helpdesk roles. There's also discussions for gaming.

We're also open to partnering and becoming involved with other Irish based open forums.

Check us out if you have any questions.

Nice idea but I'm fairly sure this is against forum rules.

I'll be sure to check out the site though.

Nuts.. I checked them and all I could find was "don't post links to bold things" as below
    Please don't do these things:
    • 1. Posts linking to illegal or inappropriate material (warez, porn etc.)

Great idea , i have bookmarked the link. Not a fan of the colour scheme but good luck with the site.

Cheers man, we're open to changes to be honest, we've only launched this week so lack feedback thus far. The colour was chosen to be similar to Visual Studio in night-mode (easy on the eyes). What would you suggest bud?

Personally, I prefer my forum to use bright colours, IMO, makes it easier to read and navigate.

What about a 'projects' section to support things like building home networks, labs, Pi projects etc. It might help increase visitors to the site.

Oddly enough the section for those bits is going up within the next hour :)

I'll have a look at a brighter template, once it's live I'll see what sort of feedback it gets. I really appreciate the responses.

Ahh yes, sorry about that, you get a confirmation email with a link to click but we temporarily disabled it as we had a minor attack this morning. Your account is now active and you should be able to log in.

You should also stick a link in your sig. Best of luck with it.

Seems like a great idea and has a lot of potential if it can build a little community, have to agree though the black theme is not great. Something brighter would be easier to navigate around.

A nice initiative i think its trying to be everything to everyone. Personally would try to define a more focused target audience. The no brainer place for me for tech support is stackexchange.

What happens if some well meaning individual gives someone advice that is wrong!?

    Happy Saturday Mister Stark.

There is a fairly defined focus in fairness, we won't offer advice on how you can make your roses more red or fix your shower if it's blocked with calcium. It is only tech based, which does include anything and everything tech based.

Regarding advice, standard members providing advice is just that, them providing advice. It is not the site staff and we will make it understood that the "free technical support from qualified/experienced techies" comes from those who have applied for and been approved for a position as Moderator.

We had our first dev-based question, albeit a pretty simple opinion request. However it was still answered, as you can see in the following link, in a high level of detail by our resident developer. https://www.something-tech.com/index.php/discussions-board/12-adventures-in-coding

All of this will be made clear in an "about" page once we finish working on a brighter theme as advised by the boards.ie members here :)

Thanks for the comment! We've now switched the theme, we'd be delighted with any feedback folk can offer. It's much brighter than the last without breaking anything but we won't know without proper bug-testing or reports if something is invisible / not working

We have the project section up now, it was suggested to include cryptocurrency hardware so we have done so. Thanks for all of the suggestions

Just remembered this and had a look to see how it was doing. Did it not take off?

Seems to have disappeared. Nothing comes up when you click on the link in the OP.
