Moving to offshore island

I want to move and live on an offshore Island which is just 10-15 minutes away by ferry from a large town.

I have found a house to rent within the Rent allowance limits and the owner accepts Rent Allowance.

There is a scheduled ferry crossing every day throughout the year at 8.30am to Bantry and one returning from there at 18.00 to the Island.

I called DSP to find out if it was acceptable for me to move to the island but they said that they could not make a decision until they process my claim for JA.

Of course I need to move before they can process the claim and then if they don't accept that I am "Available for Work" then it will be too late because I would have already moved there!

What is your opinion about this? Do you think I have a reasonable case for being allowed to live on the Island and continue to claim JA?
