Competency based interviews, thoughts

Hi, I have to do one of these tomorrow with a multinational as a final round interview. Having read up on them I'm fairly sure I won't be able to play to my strengths and I think creatively rather than "inside the box".

I am aware of the STAR formula.

Anyone any experience of these and what did you think of them? Thanks.

Standard in the public sector and I recently did training sessions for them.

Main advice I can give is:
Always use I rather than we in examples.
Say exactly what you did step by step..situation task and result aren't as important as what you actually did in example
If noting results, try to demonstrate how result was clearly favourable...not just you saying it was (eg a survey, a letter received etc praising you)
Don't waffle...just stick to the facts..it's an opportunity to sell yourself, waffling wastes that time..
Make sure you know your examples and have others lined up as well should you need them.

    Best of luck

Thanks Zipppy, I'm only starting out on the job hunt and am likely to be up against very strong candidates who have done lots of these. Where did I you do the course, I might neede it.

I've heard that training for these can be very effective, anyone aware of any consultancies or firms offering this?

Me too, recommendations would be great but I will also do some research and post if I come up with something.
