Nissan Almera NATS/Immobiliser Problem

    Hi all.

I have a 2004 Nissan Almera. The other day I noticed the red immobiliser light was on solid as I was driving (The red light of a car with a key in the middle). I took no notice until I stopped to do some shopping.

When I came back out I turned the key and not a thing happened - not even turning over. Then I tried again and it kept turning over but not starting like it wasn't receiving petrol. Then after a few more goes, it started.

Ever since I have been having this problem. The manual says it's a fault with the NATS system. It goes between on and off and problem and no problem, I'm just afraid that some day it'll totally give up the ghost.

Can anyone shed any light on the problem and give me an idea of how expensive this would be to fix??

    Thanks guys!

Have you a spare key to try?

No, I bought it second hand and I only got one key.

keys don't give trouble with these cars most probable cause in my view is a wiring fault between bcm and ecm.
