I much prefer serato but I do mostly turntablism. traktor would be better if you were into doing all the live remixing stuff they show in the little promo videos they release, and serato is better as a vinyl replacement in my opinion.

nice thing about serato is that you can hop onto anyone elses setup and after choosing the view style you prefer, you're set. whereas with traktor I found that there were lots of little fiddly settings that if you got used to them you'd always have to have it that way.

As well as the beat grid stuff, it might be good for keeping a loop going for 10 hours without having to touch it, but I much prefer serato analyzing the track quickly and getting it basically perfect, and if it goes out of time I'll just fix it with the pitch control

cheers yeah i know what you mean with the settings for traktor there individual,i wouldnt be really into turntablism,i like the freedom trakor gives you with live remixing with machine etc, havent ever tried serato hence the question but lately ive had issues with traktor freezing(most probably memory issues with my laptop) from what ive read seratos a bit more stable,do you know if the traktor audio cards can be used in serato or do ya gotta go for rane

you have to go for the rane hardware but the software is free (scratch live is, serato DJ costs money unless you get it for free with a controller).

I'd say if you're more interested in the live remixing stuff then stick with traktor, no limit to what you can do with it whereas serato is more simple and just does a few things really well.

traktor crashing is probably the laptops fault and might happen with serato too so I wouldn't switch just to stop the crashing

Yeah I had Serato when it came out first and it did the job but have since moved to Traktor as I bought a Pioneer XDJ R1 and the stuff you can do on Traktor are amazing.
