    Hi,

I need to make a very small stand alone shelving unit. It would be cheaper to buy in Ikead but they just don't have the size that i need... and i need the shelving to be exact heights in different areas.

I've measured it and built a model of what i need. Please don't say i should add this that and the other :-) as i purely need something very basic that will be slotting into an existing cupboard.

Does anyone know of any company that will cut this into the pieces of i give them the measurements and quantities... would Woodies do it or anywhere else close to the Malahide Road.

According to your design, you need 4 lenths of square timber (2x2) and 3 rectangles of plywood (with square notches cut out of each corner on 2 of the sheets).
Question then is how do you intend on attaching the shelves to the legs - (could use right angle brackets or a cross piece between each leg under the shelf...)

To answer your question...B&Q have a cutting service (not sure where your nearest is) - i dont think woodies do.

But i dont think B&Q would go into the level of detail you need...i.e. i dont think they'll cut the notches - but they will cut the rectangles to size and im sure they'd cut the lengths for the legs too. You could either re-design (dont cut the notches and cut the legs into parts so you end up with a couple of tiers if you like) or you could cut the notches with a saw yourself.

Most joinery/carpentry places will cut it for you too - but will prob charge a fair bit - im guessing you're angling to get it done in the same place you get the wood so you're not lugging full sheets about the place.

    Hey, thanks for the reply.

Yeah i was planning on using angle brackets. The shelves won't be holding any great weight.
