As above, I highlighted an issue with my login. The pm i recieved back stated the rep had "modified your online profile here" with no outline of what had been changed and with no consent from me.

What rights do I have here. Would contacting comreg be an appropriate course of action

Contacting the reps might make more sense. Ask what change was made and why, and whether it solves the problem you raised.

I don't see that this is matter for ComReg. Why would it be?

Ive done that and am still waiting on a reply. Well data protection I would have thought considering their modifying my account without my knowledge or consent.

Data protection is mainly about not disclosing your data to others, and about ensuring that data relating to you is accurate, and allowing you to see it and, if necessary, have it corrected.

We don't know how they have modified your profile. If, after modification, it was as accurate as previously (or more accurate) then there is no breach of data protection rules that I can see. If it's less accurate, then they have to give you an opportunity to correct it and, if they do that, I can't see that ComReg will be interested.

Is my understanding right or wrong?

You had a log in issue, they modified your account to allow you to log in as you requested and you want to complain about something.

    Wrong.

The solution they gave me to fix my login was to delete cookies etc and try again. If that didnt work to let them know and theyd reset my password in an attempt to let me back in. They casually mentioned they modified something in my profile. With no specification of what or for what reason, im still awaiting an answer for both.

Also to add I highlighted the issue 5 days ago and was ignored I highlighted this fact today got the usual apologies etc. And made it perfectly clear on the public thread I want nothing more to do with three. This was acknowledged and 10minutes later the pm arrived stating what theyd done.

Are you looking for an excuse to terminate your contract?

I don't understand the problem. You had an issue and three resolved it?

Surely if your profile had been altered then you'll be able to tell comreg what had been altered. After all it's your data, isn't it.

You need to establish what has been changed in your profile. If you're not seeing any change, then my guess it that they made some technical change, e.g. adding a random digit to some entry with no substantive content - in order to resolve whatever technical problem was preventing you from logging in. If the change is of that nature, I don't see why you would object to it, and it certainly wouldn't be a breach of any data protection obligations.

In order to make a complaint, you're going to need some evidence that data protection obligations have been breached. Simply altering data relating to you is not necessarily a breach of the data protection rules - in some cases the data protection rules will require alteration, and in many cases they will permit it.

So far, I don't see anything to suggest a breach of data protection rules in what you say. It's possible there has been a breach, but it's always possible. Nothing suggests that there has been a breach.

Modifying your profile could be something like giving additional access. It doesn't have to be something visible.
