As alot of you are aware there is a 10 year rule on taxis since 2013

I now have to retire my 2006 hyundai sonata in jan 2016 as she will be 10, i was mulling over what to do and then it hit me like a epiphany to buy a mid 90's Range Rover or early 00's and go to Mr Landrover and buy a brand new chassis for it with a new 2016 log book as she's a new chassis, and marry the two like some unholy union and get 10 years out of the Range Rover as a taxi

    Thoughts???

So would you have to pay the VRT on a 2016 Range Rover, it being new ??

Every time I pick a new cab, the first thing I do is sit in the back and ask "will my customers like this"? I cannot imagine being happy if a 20 year old junker pulled up outside.

do people even care? if im taking a taxi it is because im in a rush and just want to get taken from a-b asap. Whatever taxi pulls up first, I dont care if its a bag of ****, just get me to my destination please and ill be happy

Of course they (most) care! A nice clean, modern and safe car with plenty of leg room that smells good will provide a more pleasant experience than a old smelly car. You are paying for a service, you should expect nothing less.

They probably won't believe it's a taxi. Even with all the paraphernalia on it.

    True, I see your point.

My example is if Im standing on Dorset street and its raining and Im in a rush, I would be waiting a long time for car that you have described to pass me. Instead I would opt for the basic spec octavia that are a plenty. At the end of the day as long as it drives and has the basic requirements to be a taxi ill part with my cash and not give it a second thought
