The D in DUP and gay marriage

This thread is definitely a bad idea but anyway... Apparently the majority in Northern Ireland do want gay marriage legalised. However the DUP vetoed it - something that is possible in Northern Ireland if you have a sufficient number of seats even if the overall majority is in favour. That's not very democratic of them is it.

Also a question for no voters: Does the notion of being aligned with the DUP bother you?

Should we take up arms and reclaim the 6 counties?

On matters other than the Union, the DUP may well have good policies.

well no the majority that want to be in the UK so that also would be undemocratic. Sinking to their level etc.

I'd say as much as the notion of "being aligned with Mrs Brown" bothers the Yes voters.

I'm not in or from Northern Ireland so their policies don't affect me either way.

    Very true about the D.

Then again Sinn Fein means "Ourselves Alone" so after the GFA they should have changed their name to whatever the Irish for "With Whatever Unionist Party Wins Forevermore At Best".

maybe reverse psychology would work on them, because they usually say No to everything

Annual survey conducted by Queens University Belfast and Ulster University indicates that less than 15% of people in NI want unification with the republic and about 65% want to stay part of the UK.

Because it touches on two potentially volatile political issues
