Looking for a change of career and Just wondering how much it would cost roughly from start to finish ie (theory test- getting the full licence) as I am considering going for it and possibly driving a bus for a living. Any info would be a great help thanks.

I did my C test in 2003, and my E+C in 2014, and it worked out at an average of €1500 per category (having said that I didnt need to do any cpc exam or practical test). And that was passing both first time.

    I'd say budget for €1500-€2000 for D.
It also depends if you have any large vehicle driving experience to date.

I don't know how much it will cost you now, (I paid £300 in UK in 1984) but I can tell you that I had a great career. Starting with school buses, moving on to London Transport, then Eurolines on the London to Amsterdam route, finishing with band buses carrying the crew and artists of tours including Madonna, Metallica and Rolling stones, and was by then earning 1500 Euro a week.

It's worth whatever you pay. You will never be unemployed and could get the opportunity see Europe and also some great gigs for free. Especially if you are happy to relocate to the UK.

Thanks for the replies. Really one of the reasons I'm considering it is like stated in the last post I will never be unemployed and it seems to be enough of an income to live off. Plus the fact I enjoy driving helps (been driving a van nationwide for the last 4 years although I know this is a different ball game from a bus). I wouldn't mind paying let's say between €1500-€2000 if it was to get me a job for life that I enjoy.

The €1500 - €2000 price as mentioned above seems about right to me.

I got my done for under €1000 (a few lessons, rent of vehicle and driving test), but this was mainly down to the fact I was driving rigid trucks professionally and had a good command of using a larger vehicle.

    Good luck with it!
