Can anyone work out something for me? Basically my friend was offered a part time job of 20 per week. It was agreed they would break down the 26k full time wage and her hourly wage would be the equivalent. She got her payslip yesterday and she's only getting 12 per hour. I can't work this out. Like do you divide 26k x 52 weeks of the year ÷ 38 hours per week? This works out at 13 per hour. Anyone shed some light on the subject as he doesn't want to query it until he knows exactly how to calculate it. Thanks

Is a full working week 38 hours any where I have worked it's been 39.5 hours.

    The calculation then is (26000/52)/39.5 = 12.65

I don't work in payroll so this is only my opinion the above figure is the gross amount not take home pay.

Are your figures nett or gross

Also is the working week on this business 39.5. It may or may not be

It's probably rounding to a certain extent.

There is no hard and fast calculation. Annual over 52 over hours per week or annual over 260 (working days) over hours per day would be commonly used.
It's possibly to do with holiday pay:
26 k would include 4 weeks holiday pay per year
For part time it's usually 8% of hours worked so the 26k is wound back as though its 108% of gross. That said I'm not sure if that is quite the correct way to calculate hourly pay it if the employer is working it out that way.
