Banned from Galway City Forum. I don't really care but heavy handed moderation bothers me so i'm raising it here.
    1. Guy says - in relation to Ireland - 'I see attitudes haven't changed'..... 'that's why I left Ireland'.... 'don't want to come back'... etc.

    2. I called him a miserable bastard (bastard isn't even a blocked word).

    3. Banned.

Fairly ridiculous, heavy handed moderation to be fair. Not even a warning.

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay in dealing with this. Normal DRP procedure is to ask if you've contacted the mod to try and resolve this. As your ban is nearly up, I'll just deal with this now.

Regardless of whether or not bastard is a blocked word, it is fairly obviously a personal insult when directed towards someone. You didn't just call him a miserable bastard, you told him that 'Ireland is glad to have ejected' him. The user subsequently closed their account.

As that was your first contribution to the thread (and only your third contribution to the Galway City forum since you joined), you were clearly looking to get a reaction.

3 days might seem a little harsh but I agree with the ban considering you were baiting another user while personally abusing them. I'm upholding the ban, you may appeal to an admin if you wish.

I wasn't 'looking for a reaction' or 'baiting' anyone, I was simply criticising stupid comments RE: Ireland (which were offensive in themselves).

That guy was clearly one of the enlightened, whose perception and depth led him to suffer, exposed to the ignorance and backwardness of old Ireland. He's happy now anyway, presumably treasured by the progressive liberal intelligentsia in his new found utopia.
