Kim Jong-un designed and built with his bare hands I suppose :)

Or he bought a Cessna and pulled of the badges

He's very clearly quoted as saying the airplane was built by the "hand of our working class people" :D

Terrible translation that it should read "rebuilt by hand of our working class people" !

One of the photo's shows him smoking beside the aircraft. I thought that was a no no? But then again, who is going to tell him? That would be a bad career move. Just ask the guy who fell asleep at some event recently that Kim Jong-un was attending.

The linked video seems a bit dodgy too.

I can't help but notice that there are several jumps in the footage just before we see the plane build up for take off.
I wouldn't be very surprised if they just recorded Kim in the plane while it taxied around, and then got him out before the flight itself. Then spliced the footage together to give the impression that he flew with the aircraft.

Ah North Korea, always good for a laugh :D

You have to feel sorry for the guys that follow him around with a notepad and pencil, furiously writing down his "guidance" on every subject from growing vegetables, to military doctrine, to making mobile phones and now aviation.....WHAT A GENIUS!

He should get a job as an "everything" consultant.

It must be a stalinist thing - get an aircraft, copy it right down to the last nut and bolt and then mass produce it (but not pay license fees to the manufacturer). I believe uncle joe did the same thing back in the 1940's with an obscure aircraft known as the B29 (better known as the Tupolev TU-4).

As for Kim - he seems to get chubbier in every propaganda - sorry news story. Thankfully he has so far avoided growing that hilarious quiff his Dad sported.

I had seen a documentary about that....the foot pedal on the TU-4 even had "Boeing" stamped on them as it was an exact copy.

Didn't China do that with a Sukhoi ?

Well his hairstyle reminds me of something that Donald Trump would sport.

BTW how did they get their hands on the Cessna they copied ?
Can't imagine many people flying one across from the South.

And does anyone know if Cessna_Pilot is in danger of being abducted for his Cessna knowledge ?

I am not allowed discuss …

They probably got it from China, possibly Russia. North Korea openly trades with both countries. My guess would be on a purchase from China.
I guessing that mostly because China is where the bulk of Air Koryo's international flights seem to end up.
