I'd get off at Busárus and walk up Gardiner street to the Mater.
There's no change of luas needed

There is no line to switch to.

You can get off at Abbey Street/Busaras & its a 20 min walk.

You'd get off at Abbey Street Luas and from there you can walk to Mater Private in about 20 mins or take a taxi from beside Clerys.

If you're coming from Monaghan why would you go to Tallaght? Come in the M1 and park in Whitehall and get the 16 to the Mater.

Ok. Thanks didn't no that. Would I be wise driving all the way. Would parking spaces be a nightmare to find?

The Mater Private is located in Eccles St., at the Dorset St end. There are lots of people coming and going for medical appointments all day so parking can be difficult at the best of times. It's in the red zone so will cost 2.40 an hour for parking. Not impossible though, you might have to find a spot around the corner or on the other side of Dorset St. in Temple St. which will probably be easier if coming from the M1. Allow plenty of time to find a spot and make sure you don't leave anything visible in the car.

I know I'm late to the party but there is an underground car park right beside the Mater Private...

    Yes ....

The Mater Private Hospital is located central to Dublin City Centre on the corner of Eccles Street and Dorset Street, within a 10 minute walk from O’Connell Street. Eurocarparks operate a public car park on Eccles Street – the Mater Hospital car park. This is a 436-space basement car park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
