Hi. Myself and my husband are new entrants to farming and have an offer in for 40 acres of land that has been accepted the last 2 weeks hoping to have contracts signed by the end of the month. Im new to all of this so i have a couple of questions. I am under 35 earn less than €40000 and have a green cert, my husband earns over €40000 he is 35 and has a green cert. It is land with a house so although both our money will be going towards it I will be the farmer.

How would stamp duty work for us?
I take it I will be too late for us to apply to the national reserve/ young farmers scheme/ single farm payment?
    Thanks

Would it be worth getting on to your local teagasc office -? At least they should know most of the legalities - and you are probably going to need a fair bit of advice - green certs or no -
