These guys don't waste time, this aircraft was only revealed a couple of months ago :)

Gulfstreams first attempt with "SIDE STICKS" rather than YOKES, although they did use FBW in the 650.

The original of the cockpit photo is at http://www.gulfstream.com/aircraft/gulfstream-g500 and you can zoom into to various sections, awesome looking cockpit....

It almost looks like a similar finish to a luxury car

They are above the 4 main screens.

The backup are the little screens on the glare shield.... all screens will be paired and operated by multiple electrical sources and symbol generators, the backup screens are most likely powered by the battery bus and then by internal batteries.

Look at the newer B777's, there are no round dials anymore!

I wont miss steam gauges, glass cockpits are much better to read and display more information in the one place, just generally better info delivery! I think anyway.

so if all power fails you loose all instrumentation ?

No, there are numerous power supplies which have built in redundancy should 1 fail.

The type I fly for instance has 11 powered buses (supplies) fed by 2 AC generators, 2 DC generators and 2 batteries. Should one of the generators fail the other is rated to take the remaining load.

If the AC and DC geni's fail the main battery and emergency battery will provide 30 minutes supply respectively.

If all of the above fails the 5 main screens will be blank but the IESI (integrated emergency situation indicator) has its own internal battery to provide 30 minutes power. The IESI is a brilliant price of kit which combines attitude indicator, airspeed indicator, altimeter, comm and nav radio into 1 screen.
