Quick one here - I have a W7 Home Premium Licence and want to reinstall, but I don't have the media (the downside is that there's three characters illegible on the COA label because the laptop overheated, but how that problem might be worked around is a matter for elsewhere but it means I can't use the MS site to recover a download). I know MS used to host this but have pulled it offline, and a little googling found the below mirror:

    http://mirror.corenoc.de/digitalrivercontent.net/

Just wondering if anyone else has used this or if it is generally regarded as safe? Don't really want to go down the route of torrents etc to get a legal file and there's no way in hell I'm paying for a new licence. Don't want toe nd up with malware either though.

Hopefuly mods will agree that link should be allowed but if not of course remove it.

You may not be able to use your oem license key with any torrent you find online as they will be retail isos usually.

Can you contact the pc manufacturer or borrow an oem disc from someone?

Any chance that there's a recovery partition?

You could try MagicJellybean key recovery
    https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
    or Nirsoft ProduKey
to get the install key code for windows.

If it hasn't been reinstalled since purchase, it might still be the OEM code though.

OEM code should still work, it usually fails on non manufacturer hardware but should be OK otherwise?

You can get the image from the Windows site too.

This was only the case with XP and earlier - since Vista the generic discs are all the same now.
