Need to keep release/renew router IP suddenly

    Hey guys,

I got home from work today and the internet wasn't working wireless or over direct connection.

It's been working fine for weeks up until now.

I have a Technicolor TC7200 in BRIDGE MODE connected to an Archer C5 router.

So now I'm logging into my Archer C5, going to network -> WAN and releasing then renewing and it works for a few minutes only.

This is after coming out of nowhere. Any ideas?

Remove the c7 connection and directly connect to the tc7200. Check if u have stable internet connection. Also check that you haven't been moved to ipv6 address scheme.

Yup removed it and went directly to the TC7200. Worked fine.

How do I check if I've been moved to ipv6 scheme?

In the meantime, I turned off bridge mode, turned it back on. waited 15 minutes and reconnected my router to it. Hopefully that might help.

    EDIT: Scratch that, still happening.

Didn't the tc have a bridge stability bug? Search for it.

Strange thing is it's been working fine for weeks but I've encountered another problem that may tell us something.

I disconnected my C5 router and hooked everything up to the UPC router on it's own. Right everything was working.
At this stage I was on my tablet watching YouTube videos, every ~5-10 minutes the WiFi would stop working (there would be no visible icon indication of this, still connected as normal) and I'd have ti disconnect and re-connect back onto the box.

So there is either an issue with UPC suddenly for the box magically started messing up. I'm not sure where to go from here now.

EDIT: I should point out it was still technically in bridge mode. Someone mentioned leaving it in Router mode and check if it needs an update. Will try this later...

EDIT2: UPC confirmed no problem in my area. So it must be something else...

If you leave it bridged and connect your devices get publics. If more than 3 connect they'll time each other out.

UPC have never supplied decent cpe, it could just be on the fritz. Check the leds that DS doesn't start flashing when you lose the link, that would point to a possible cable fault.

That explains that then. There was around 5 devices connected to it last night.

Will do, will check when I get home from work.

Other than that I might try just factory reset the whole box and set everything up from scratch again.

Needed to enable true bridge mode on TC7200 through SNMP. Left a step by step guide.

Bumping a two-year old thread, but did this 100% work for you in the long run Alan?

Hey there. It did until I replaced it eventually with the 3.0 Hub and ended up using the built in bridge mode.
