Moving to Kilcullen

    Hi all,

This may be the wrong board for this thread, if it is please excuse my ignorance.

I am in the process of moving house and I am looking at moving to Kilcullen. Coming from Waterford and Dublin where Broadband was never really much of an issue. I have been searching for the last few days and cannot find anything in terms of expected speeds in Kilcullen.

I am just wondering if anyone has any idea in terms of what speed to expect in this area? Checking what is available from the ISP's it is showing Sky and Eircom and "Up to 100Meg" The Up to part is what troubles me.
How much of that Up to, would anyone have any idea in terms of what I will get.

Dealing with UPC for the last 10 years nearly, so never really had to worry about ADSL etc... If anyone has any insights please let me know.

    Thanks again,

    Jamie

    Mostly finished for eFibre.

If you're within 300m of a cab you'll get 70Mb+. See fibrerollout.ie to find out if your new place will be beside one.

I know someone who lives near Kilcullen town but they only get like 1 Mbps down(at peak times). They're in an eFibre area but are too far from the exchange.

near kilcullen is not Kilcullen, its near kilcullen, I get less than advertised, but it varies from 3-32mbps, fine and dandy !

I meant near Kilcullen town. The person I know has "Kilcullen" in their address. The OP mightn't be moving to the immediate areas in/around Kilcullen town and that will have an impact on the download speed.

yes in any town its the same, for 15 miles some towns say naas on the adress, like allenwood etc, bet the speeds there are very different, but its not naas, I guess its a case by case basis on services...

    Hi all,

Sorry I haven't replied for some reason I didn't get any notifications from the post even though I had it ticked.

I am thinking around the Castlemartin estate, just looking at what I have seen so far however the top speeds look to be at best around 32 Mb.

    Does that sound about right?
