I was using Facebook yesterday and was suddenly logged out for security reasons. I've tried changing my password but it still won't let me back in - just as well that I have three other accounts. :D

Seriously though, they must be kidding if they think that I'm supplying this sort of information - are they a front for the CIA? I have contacted Facebook but no reply.

    Hi all,
Facebook has locked me out of my account and is requesting i scan an ID to get back in to it. Ive had my account for years and use a pseudonym as I dont want my students finding me on it and gawking into my personal life. Is there a way around this or is it bye bye facebook from now on....
    Cheers

Facebook wants you to use your real name, I know asking even for an ID sounds questionable but it's like that now... Either say goodbye to Facebook or set it up so that your students won't be able to interact with you. An example:
    • all your posts and pictures set to "Friends only", same with your information (city where you live etc...)
    • set it up so nobody can ask you to be friends (so you must add someone first if you wish to connect with someone)
    • don't allow private messages from people outside your friends list

They'll probably find your account while searching your name, but if you hid everything, even your profile picture, to strangers, they can't tell if it's you or someone else with the same name.

Lots of teachers use the Irish form of their name too dont they.

That's very interesting, so I'm not alone.

However, the Facebook a/c that I'm locked out of has my name and photo on it and has been in regular use for years. It also has my email address. While it's a little annoying, it's Facebook's loss not mine and I have mine own ways of getting back at them. :D

Aye, it's very annoying but you know it's used by so many people all over the world* there are bound to be crooks trying to get an edge in.
As always, the final step is to stop using this free service and simply delete account.

is there a way that I can use the old account and just change my name on it as I have so much stuff posted and friends etc over the years that starting from scratch would be a nightmare...
