I'm completely clueless on accommodation. My leaving cert isn't until 2016 but a load of my friends are doing it this year and have accommodation together. How does this work? I'm just wondering what the process is as some of my friends in my year are discussing accommodation plans for next year. I've heard the village and castlewhite are the best. Any help/advice is welcome,

    thanks!

Hi, first of all don't worry! A lot is going to change this year, people will change their minds about where they want to go, what courses they will do, and what they will be offered. It is definitely no harm in making plans about who to stay with and where because there is a scramble for accommodation each year. Make a list of the things which are important for your accommodation to have, e.g. near to UCC, not too far to socialise with others, places where other first years go, rent payment options (some want almost all of the money at the start of the year, make sure that you know what you're getting into). You will find mixed reviews with regard to all accommodation. Check out the UCC Accommodation Service's page, look at what they have to say for their First Year guide and the above thread about accommodation.

Also when you're filling out the application forms for the accommodation it will ask you if you have any preferences about who you want to stay with so just list the people you want to stay with and they will do their best to accommodate these choices.
