The driver door lock on my Corolla has given in on me, key will only go in with a struggle and will not turn. Question is can I swap around the barrel with the passenger door or will I need to have it replaced?

Perhaps a new one. But start with give it a liberal spray with 3-in-1 oil from Aldi/Lidl/Halfords/factors/ and use key to work the oil around the moving parts of the lock.

Can you open door from inside?
    Will it lock/unlock from inside?

Yes I can lock/unlock from inside alright. I know I could get a replacement cheap enough but that would mean two keys. Otherwise I would need to replace all locks and ignition costing quite a bit.
I will try your suggestion thanks.

We have a Suzuki Grand Vitara which had a similar problem. We got a new lock barrel and brought it to a locksmith with the original key. Locksmith was able to alter the new barrel to accept the original key. As far as I remember the lock was in fact a Toyota item. I don't know how much the lock barrel cost but the alteration to fit the original key cost less than €20.
Worth asking a locksmith in any case.

Check prices with Hurst's in Belfast, I got a replacement boot lock cylinder and mechanism for about 40% of the cost from a Toyota dealer in the south. It was coded to my original key, so no new keys needed. Boot mechanism cost 50e+postage, but it came with more than just the barrel.
