Im planning on tidying up and laying my driveway in the next month or so.i need 70 metres of kerbing and am just confused which is best to go with size wise. From what ive read hyd pressed kerbs are better than the pre cast so will try get them but its just do i go with 7x5 or 6x5 and do i install half batter or full batter?.what are peoples preference.i will be installing hardcore 804 and will probably have a gravel type finish over this ,think tarmac will be too expensive, the area in question is 500m2 country style house.i would be driving up over the kerbing in two or three places when i get a ride on mower.Again just wondering on peoples preferences?.

Half Batter 7x4 or 8x4 pressed kerbs are what I generally use on driveways, make sure you have enough concrete bed and even more backing, dont just concrete under the joints it will fail, where in this fair island are you?

cheers macadam for the advice,is there any particular reason you or other people use the half batter instead of full splayed/full batter kerbs in domestic driveways .im in dunshaughlin,co meath.

Half batter are normally used, they provide am easier step down where as full batter have more of a splay to the top which can be dangerous for stepping and are normally used so traffic can ride the kerb so to speak.
I use a 7x4 pressed kerb which is lovely laid on the flat gives a real nice border, almost always retains its colour. I use Kerbs from Killeshal concrete Daingean Tullamore and Wrights Concrete between Ardee and Carricmacross, actually I find Wrights a better finished kerb and its also a little lighter.

sorry macadam just one last thing when you say laying the 7x4 on its flat im assuming you mean the 7inch is facing the ground and the 4inch is against the grass.? the traditional way is the 7inch against the grass and the 4inch facing the ground..would that be what you mean.im going to get mine from killeshal in offaly as wrights wont deliver to dunshaughlin, delivery would be too expensive .killeshal have 7x5 or 6x5 half pressed.cant really see much of a difference
