Registration of car and TAN Holder

    Hi all,

This will hopefully be the last of my 'car import' threads!

I'm registering my (private import, VRT exampt) car this week - got an email telling me the time and all the documents I need to bring.

The first item on the list is "completed VTRVPD1 (Tan Holders) and Registration Declaration Forms".

Item two is a " VRTVPD2 for Private vehicles" -which makes me think that maybe item 1 is for not-private vehicles.

Am i a TAN holder? I've googled it and it seems to be for car dealers, but I'm not sure and wanted to make certain I bring all the stuff I need on the day. It is not specific on the form as to who needs to fill it out and who doesn't.

    Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with the 2 forms you mention (or the car importing process) but I can tell you that TAN = trader account number with revenue and would normally only be held by companies who are importing on a commercial basis or very frequently. So I believe that VRTVPD2 is the form you need. The other one would be for traders who may be registering the car (for example) in their customers name and using their TAN to pay the VRT

This is what i think too, but it's not completely clear (to me) whether I need both, or just one.

    I'll fill in both!

Tan number is only used by garages with an account.
