Airline pilots mental health.

I found this short article interesting about the pressure on modern pilots and where they go for help. I suppose we can expect more of these stories in the light of the Germanwings tragedy.

I just do not understand how organisations and corporations feel and think they can put pressure onto pressure onto over-worked and under-valued workers in an already stressful working environment.

Putting workers under more stress , when already over-worked just simply cannot lead to in any way, shape or form , cannot lead to a Positive Enjoyable Work Environment , never mind enabling workers to have Peace of Mind when they need it!

This is just one area but so so many more need to start looking into the over-worked stressful environments they currently have people working in imo.

Because the bean counters are in charge, and all that matters is the cost and the number on the bottomline.

Absolutely. I wonder though could we see insurers having an input now that rogue pilot is a real problem that has cost them money.
Could airline insurers push for a situation where pilots are never contractors and have full sick pay etc.

I guess they could if they started to differentiate insurance rates based on staff employment details.
I guess the problem there is proving it so the airline couldn't claim discrimination.

Heres one solution.....

But for 78 new pilots and 300 new cabin crew members hired by Air India, there's also yoga.

This year, new employee training begins with a daily 6:30 a.m. yoga class, The Economic Times reports.

"We have introduced yoga for the first time in our training module for pilots and cabin crew, as we believe that yoga brings in a sense of discipline as well as helps cope better with the stress of the job," a senior Air India official told the Times.
