Whatever happened at the end of the cartoons?

So yeah, I was thinking about the Simpsons and wondering would they ever end and if they did, what kind of episode the final would be about? Would they make it an hour long special perhaps?

But then I thought what did all the other cartoons from my childhood do?

Did Ash ever catch all the pokemon?
Did the turtles ever murder Shredder and the foot soldiers?
Did Fred Flinstone get wiped out when the meteorite hit?
Did Johnny Bravo come out of the closet?
    Did Freakozoid OD?
    Did Arnold get Helga preggars?
Did Brain ever take over the world?

I know the answers to none of theses and don't recall ever seeing a finale even though a lot of the shows would've ended whilst I was a teenager or in college and still watching them while eating coco pops.

So AH, regale me with tales of what happened in the end of classic 90's cartoons, post videos from the youtube too if they exist of final scenes etc

I'll be back in an hour with a bowl to watch them. Thanks a bunch.

EDIT! People are worried about giving away spoilers?! People, it's a thread about the ending to cartoons! He who enters does so knowingly.

I don't recall any "finale" episodes of any cartoons, but I do hope The Simpsons ends soon.

i was killing a few hours this week and started working back from the newest episode. Watching most of the current season. Not one episode struck me as memorable. When I do find a good episode these days the chances are pretty high it was from the first 10 seasons.

Until it came back years later. I never quite felt the same about the new episodes though.

They aged and basically said let's jump in this wormhole back to the year 3000 and start again. More to it than that but would involve spoilers and I'm posting from phone/can't be arsed.

Interesting thread though. You have me thinking

I point blank refuse to watch any episode after about season 12. From around season 10 it started to be a bit hit and miss for a while and then it just to turned to utter shite. I wasn't too pushed on the movie either.

If I remember right - in TMNT (the one from the mid 80s) they eventually beat Shredder and Crang and trap them in one of the alternative dimensions.

They had a new bad guy show up though. At the very end of the last season, they trap him in the same dimension as Shredder and Crang.

Cartoons in the 80s were strange sometimes you would wake up on Saturday morning and the show had been cancelled, with a new show on in its place, biggest one I can remember this happening to was Dungeons and Dragons, poor kids never did get home.

The Simpsons is ending in like 2/3 seasons apparently...sure Harry Shearer is gone now so they can't get a whole lot more mileage out of it.

AFAIK Ash is still in the Pokemon episodes which must have about a couple of thousand pokemon in it. I lost interest after they introduced something like 50 new pokemon to the original 151

Time manipulation, death and resurrection, followed by old age and fun. That's the best I can do without giving away spoilers to anyone who hasn't seen it!

Battletech ended on a cliff hanger.

I miss my childhood sometimes, cartoons were alot darker back then too. Too much kids in cotton wool these days.

Ash hasn't even put a dent in the first 150 lazy git, then Nintendo kept fattening the list think it's somewhere around the 800 mark now.

I remember watching an episode (think it was made in the 80's) where Tom & Jerry were in outer space... The animation was awful, not anything like the old Tom & Jerry. From what I remember, the real brains behind it was a guy called Fred Quimby. I'm guessing he kicked the bucket and the whole thing went to ****.

Also wouldn't the scissor sisters version of comfortably numb be the perfect soundtrack to silverhawks???

No, but that was the intended story line. The toys didn't sell well so a second run was never made. A feature film was planned, I can't believe there was 65 episodes of it though.

I remember watching on the Fun Factory on Saturday mornings.

The X-men cartoon was class, great story lines and what a theme tune. The two part Days of Future Past was well done.

Oh no forget silver hawks. Scissor Sisters version of comfortably numb would be the perfect soundtrack to Ulysses 31!

First cartoon to have a season long arc.

Was great till season three but then the animation really went downhill and adapted some bad storylines.

    Had a proper finale though.

Pokémon is still going and will keep being made as a promotional tool until they stop making games. The show is pretty rubbish now though. The series with May was okay.

I'd like to see the final series be Ash, Misty and Brock travelling around Kanto again. It all started going downhill when Misty left, and then with Brock gone and Gary training to become a Pokémon professor? Pffft. Gary was the only sex appeal the show had (you know I'm right).

For the final episode, I'd totally love for Ash and Misty to have a fight just before Ash battles in the final for the title of Pokémon master. Then Ash has to decide does he run after Misty - who he now realises is the love of his life - or does he try prove that he's the very best, like no-one ever was? He runs after Misty, they fall in love forever, and it's announced that the person he was against decides they don't want to win by default so they insist they have the battle. Ash wins, he kisses Misty, Pikachu is happy (idk what happens with him), it's all very soppy, and Brock and myself cry a lot.

I can't imagine there ever being an end though.
