Question on sitting the test for a person who holds a foreign licence

My girlfriend is not from Ireland but needs to pass her test here to start driving. I thought she would be able to drive here but she's not from the US (South America) so the licence does not transfer over. So I understand that unlike Irish people she is exempt from the 6 month wait between getting the provisional licence and being able to sit her test. What I'm wondering is if there are any other restrictions? Is there a mandatory number of lessons she will have to take before sitting the test?

She has to do a minimum of 12 lessons with an approved driving instructor. The RSA have listings of ADI's on their website. When they are all done and logged as being done on the RSA site, she can apply to do her test. If she has had her leaner permit for less than 6 months, her driver number will be on hold. While this hold is attached to her driver number, she can not do her test until the 6 months are up.

However, if she sends her foreign license off to Shannon, proving that she is a fully licensed driver from another country, they will remove this hold and she can apply to do her test. I don't remember the exact address, but give the RSA a ring in the morning and, they'll tell her where to send it and what her cover letter should say. I had to do it when I moved back here from the US and had a US license. They sent me back my US license in about 2 weeks. I don't know if all licensed drivers from all counties are given this leeway. The RSA should have a listing of the countries that they waive the 6 month rule for.

    No problem.

Here is the address that she sends her license off too.

She also has to send a letter of entitlement from her home country. I presume this is to show that her license is not currently suspended.
