Under Eye Concealer for Dark Purple Bags

The bags under my eyes are atrocious. I'm in my early twenties and they're a bit worse than this (think a darker, more violet colour).

I can't find anything to completely cover them. Foundation isn't thick enough (I've used the Maybelline FIT ME, Estee Lauder, Bobbie Brown, MAC and more over the years) and concealer is often too thick. Light moose foundations usually work okay but I need to reapply them during the day.

I find anything heavy or thick goes clumpy after a while if you get me, and when powder is put on it, it just completely clumps then after a few minutes and looks awful. It makes me skin look lumpy and doesn't even cover it fully then as the colour shines through. Then there's the problem of it gathering in the creases under my eyes when I smile. But if I use something light, then it won't fully cover the colour of the bags.

It makes me very paranoid and I hate it. I've said it to friends and when I point it out, they say "oh yeah, I see it." As soon as summer starts, I always wear sunglasses to cover them.

    Anybody any advice?

I have really dark bags too and I find something that's orange in colour works. I use the Essence eye primer as its orange and I use a SMALL amount (too much and you will look orange) and blend it out with a damp beauty sponge (I use the real techniques one) and if I need more I apply more, but generally I use two small dots (about pen nib size dots...tiny) and blend it with the sponge, then I use a regular (not brightening) concealer or foundation over the top, and I use the damp sponge to blend it out too.

I also pat inwards, most people (that I've seen anyway) blend outwards (start at the inner corner and blend outwards, I do the opposite) as I find it helps with creasing and wearing off. I also don't set my under eye straight away, I wait a while (until all my make up is done usually) and then either use a cotton bud/q-tip, damp sponge or my fingers and pat the area (inwards) and that removes any creasing and I don't have issues for the rest of the day.

It sounds like a lot of hassle and work and like it takes a while, but it doesn't even take 1 minute to be honest, but that depends on how quick you are.

Also my inner corners are where I've more blueness/blackness so I focus the orange product in there, but I do put a teeny amount under my whole eye area if I need it, just be careful to only do a little bit at a time because you don't want an orange look.

I also have the Maybelline eraser concealer, its alright, doesn't really do much, if you can stretch, I recommend MAC Pro Longwear, its around €20 but its full coverage so you need a teeny tiny amount, not even a pea sized amount and it will last you ages. I got it about a year ago and its still half full despite using it most days.

Brilliant, thanks! I've an orange concealer at the moment that I've never tried as I thought it was too dark. I'll be sure to test it tonight. Thanks!

My under eye circles are very purple as well, although possibly not to the same extent. I use Bobbi Brown's corrector, there are a few different colors but they're all pinky/salmon. That kind of neutralises the purple but doesn't make it completely disappear. Then i apply foundation, then Bobbi Browns Duo concealer, a yellow concealer and powder set. That usually does the trick.

Sounds odd but have you tried lipstick? http://www.today.com/style/red-lipstick-under-eye-circles-testing-out-viral-beauty-craze-t4996

I've done it a few times, I have awful dark circles under my eyes and it works well but it does take time to do properly!

Sharon Farrell did a tutorial of this recently, it looks great!

That's amazing. Thanks guys! I'll definitely have to spend some time practicing that over the next few days!

Thanks! I may try that at a later stage. It sounds a bit too thick as anything heavy clumps under my eyes and wears off quickly, but maybe I'm wrong and it's just that nothing is heavy enough to stick, haha.

Bobbi Brown corrector for me too - followed by Estee Lauder double wear concealer. Find the Bobbi concealer creases too easily.

I tend to apply my undereye concealer and foundation first, then do everything else (eyeshadow, mascara etc, brush my teeth) and then finally apply setting powder under the eyes and on the whole face. This stops the creasing for me 90% of the time. Maybe that might help?
