fibre slows on vpn

    Eircom fttc with a download of 88mb on ethernet/homeplug But when connected to a paid vpn it drops to 3mb download. This cannot be right?

    vpns slow any connection down but tbh id put it down to a crap paid for vpn with useless servers located half way around the world.

    does the vpn provider have a list of servers u can pick? try one closer to you

    It's the VPN. I have 240MB from UPC and I get 40MB-80MB on my VPN depending on which server I choose.

    Try a different server, but it might just be a bad VPN service with low speeds.

    Yeah like others have said - most likely the VPN, I have 11.6mb connection and it drops down to 8.6 on my work one.

    Your connection will get slowed down to whatever speed your VPN is giving you, perfectly normal.

    Thanks folks. i expected a slowdown but from 88mb to 3 mb is a lot. Will try different servers.
