Car taken to pound. Charges?

    Hi all,

My cat has been towed to the pound early in the week. Just found out today by an enquiry to an Garda. Does anyone know the costs for the tow and storage? It was a project car. No tax or insurance.

    Edit: Gannon's in Dublin

    Thanks,

    S.

This old thread from 2012 mentions €125 for the tow and €35 per day storage.

Will they release it without it being taxed?

€125 euro if you get it back the next day. €35 euro per day after that along with the 125.
Car doesn't have to be taxed. But if it isn't taxed, they usually will make you put it on a trailer.

If it was taken for no tax, then it must be taxed to get it back. If it wasn't then it doesn't need to be taxed

    That's not true.
Even if car was taken for no tax, there is no need to tax it to get it back.
I'm sure though, they would call the guards, if you tried to drive it away.
Without tax it has to be towed away on towing truck or trailer.

Yep you can get it taken outta Gannons without paying the tax by hiring a tow truck or trailer to get it after you pay the charges.
Gannons will inform the Garda but they cant do anything until they catch you driving it without tax again!

No it doesn't, I've had cars taken for tax before & never taxed any of them before getting them back.
