    The feather impressions on this fossil are particularly clear. Here we have an "early bird" which is indeed quite evolved, in spite of a few lingering reptilian features (the clawed wings, for example).

    China is a treasure-trove for prehistoric fauna, especially for the so-called "feathered dinosaurs", ostensible direct ancestors of birds.
