I'm currently looking at picking up a frame and building a bike up. I'm sorted on the frame (Kinesis Aithein) and I'm building the wheels myself. I do have a few questions regarding the groupset though.

Firstly, the frame complies with the BB86 standard. Will any Hollowtech II bb work with this?

I'm torn between 6800 and 5800. Has anyone ridden both? It's close to a £200 difference in price. I've only ever heard what one or the other is like. Don't get me wrong, I've heard both are great but I'm just wondering if anyone has used both.

I have 6800 on my bike and I have to say it is super slick, smooth and quiet. It replaced 5700 which was just ok.

I recently had a spin on a Scott Foil with 5800 and it is very good but not as slick as 6800. I don't know what it was about it maybe because the bike was brand new it hadn't been 'broken' in but everything about it, from pedalling to gear shifters seemed 'rougher' if that makes sense. I noticed very little difference, if any, in the force required to change gear on either the FD or RD and the brakes seemed as good too.

I think I would be quite happy to buy a 5800 bike if the price difference was greater than €220 price difference currently between them on Ribble.
