Way off topic, but why are the so noisy. The rattle away.

Must be to warn pedestrian when crossing the road on a green man that you are liable to get mowed down

He took 10 hours 26 minutes!. Lightweight. :pac:
I was way faster doing it in 10 hours 13 minutes in 2008 on the 10 km shorter old course on my 8 kg titanium road bike with 30 gears.

From personal experience it appears to be the basket, the cable lock (when left lying in the basket) and the kick stand which seem to rattle when riding.

    Boris bikes are 24kg IIRC.

I think the anti-theft washers on the front wheel (think pitlock lite) are the worst, they are like two loose little bells jingling along - it's unnerving if you are used to a normal bike, it's the sound that your front wheel is about to pop off...

according to this chart - based on the assumption that a 'normal' bike weighs 10KG - the extra 13kg is akin to carrying a two year old toddler on your back.

Not a problem. I do it daily.

69.5 kph on a Dublin bike

You'd obliterate anything or one in your way :D

My best on one was 46kph on Nassau St, which wasn't reckless at all.

    In your face, London.

We should organise crit races where the riders from each city race on their local bike share bikes. So someone representing Dublin will race on a Dublin bike, Londoner on a Borris bike, Parisian on a Velib etc. Have races in each of the cities with a league.
