Yes they're a grand base layer I have a few of them. Some have a high turtle neck which suits for winter.

Very similar to Helly Hansen probably not as thick though.

great base layers, i bought a few for going skiing and tried them under a jersey better than the aldi/lidl ones. go up a size tho because they are not very long

I have a couple they are just ok. I have a couple of canterburys they are more expensive but streets ahead. I find if you are sweating and you stop for just a minute or 2 you get cold in the Sondico very quickly.

Sondico are cheap because they are a sports direct inhouse brand. They are made of cheap stuff in china and are probably on par with the Aldi/Lidl ones. I've a few Canterbury top base layers and they are so far ahead of the sondico ones (which i binned) that i'd have no problem paying the extra for. If you keep an eye on mandmdirect.ie the canterbury usually go on sale every now and again.

Cheap stuff!! Is that a technical term?

They're grand for cool breezy days in the depths of winter you'll want/need better.

Laraghrider...ive a few canterbury base layers but i dont find them good at all on the bike. I find i get cold wearing them on the bike for some reason(like they wick the heat away from your body too quick or something)
Are you on about the regular cantebury ones youd see worn mostly by rugby players?

Well there are different types and like rugby you'd use them for different conditions. Possibly the ones you're talking about are compression layers? I've one of those and on anything other than a slight breeze it's quite cold on the bike. I've cold weather winter ones as well and they are excellent on the bike. The main difference I find from them and the cheaper ones is the cheaper ones hold onto the sweat and never fit properly. The canterbury ones look like they are tailor made when you put them on and the winter one takes the sweat away from you but still keeps you very warm.

Yeah maybe the ones i have a re compression tops as you say...although they have a "cold" logo written on them which to me suggests they are for cold conditions but like you said the slightest breeze sucks heat away from you.
I really must find out what the difference is between a base layer and a compression top.
