Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buying Laptop - Advice Please

    Hi all,

Just buying a new laptop and want to get as powerful one as possible (for what I can afford - €1000-1100).

I am taking a look at these:
    amazon. co.uk /gp/product/B00LA01DFA/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d1_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0ESE80YKZSFM7AYSK1XC&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455333147&pf_rd_i=468294

    currys. ie /Product/lenovo-z50-156-laptop-white/331831/401.0.0
    (Sorry, can't post urls)

It will be a personal laptop; will be used for some video editing (I'm not really up for a Mac) and I am trying to future-proof it to some extent. 15 inch screen / non-touch is what I'm looking at screen-wise.

Any comments on the above, or any other suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

Outdated graphics cards & atrocious screens - avoid.

Look at Acer Aspire V Nitro or Asus laptops in your budget. Dell Latitude E5550 with the 1920x1080 IPS screen is getting good reviews too.

Cheers everybody. (and thanks k.o.kiki re the screens -hadn't been paying the screen enough attention) Had a look around at those suggestions, and came across the following Asus: amazon. co.uk /Asus-GL551JW-DS71-2-6-3-6GHz-Windows-7200RPM/dp/B00V95EIU8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431815270&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rog.

Also came across the following Lenovo: shop.lenovo. com /ie/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/?cid=gb:sem|se|google|85901402884|ie_Y50_en|IE+IIP+IdeaPad+Y+Series|111157487&ef_id=VRdC2QAABRvXrPJc:20150516221021:s (1169 version, IPS screen afaik, out of stock...)

The other ones look great too (I've always wanted an MSI), but think i might be stretching the budget with them! Seen the following, laptopsdirect. ie /A1_MSI_GE60_2PC_Core_i7_4710HQ_16GB_1TB_SSD_15.6_Inch_Laptop_77203278-1-9S7-16GF11-42/version.asp but not sure if the graphics card / i7 are a little outdated / below the models in the above links.
